Sic Bo is not a very well-known casino game, but with more and more online casinos offering the game, it has increased in popularity. The term “sic bo” actually means “two dice”, the number of dice with which the game is played. Based on the outcome of the roll of two six-sided dice, the players can place bets. Every wager that the player can make is based on every possible outcome of the roll.

These are the different types of bets:

Dice Face: Players make a bet on which one side of the dice will show up. If that number shows up on either one of the dice, the player breaks even. If both dice show the predicted face, the player gets 2 to 1 payout. On this bet, the house has an edge of 8%.

Two Faces: Two faces is similar to Dice Face, except the player predicts two numbers. If these two numbers show up on both faces, then the player wins 5:1. The house has an advantage of 17%.

Totals: With this bet, the player can wager on the total that the numbers on the face of the dice will make, ranging from 4 to 17. The payout pays according to the total the player chooses.

Small or Big: Players bet on whether the total of the dice will be within certain ranges. A “small” bet predicts that the total will be between 4 and 10, while a “big” bet would fall between 11 and 17. However, if any three of a kind comes up, you lose your money. But, Small or Big still has the lowest house edge with 3%.

Triple:  With a triple, you’re betting on the possibility that all three faces will show a certain number. This usually pays out a whopping 150:1 but the house has a 30% edge, giving you a 1 in 200 chance of winning with this bet.

Any Triple: This is similar to a triple, but you’re not betting on a certain number; you’re just betting that all three dice will show the same number. This also pays out well with 24 to 1, but the odds of winning are 35 to 1.

Any Pair: Like Any Triple, Any Pair has  the player betting on the possibility that any pair will show up. Sounds easy enough? Guess again. This bet gives the house a 33% advantage.

STRATEGY

Low Risk

Sic Bo is based largely on chance, and because there are so many wagering possibilities, it is a very risky game. Strategies in Sic Bo rely on picking the bets with the highest chance of winning, because the randomization of a dice roll makes it impossible to predict the outcome. Although betting this way means less money when you do, indeed, end up winning, it means that you’ll win more often. Stay away from bets with low odds like Any Pair, Any Triple or Triple.

So, going Small and Big is your best bet, as the house edge is very low. Combination bets are also good for low risk players because of its low house edge. You have a 1 in 6 chance of winning and the payout is 6 t o1. Because of these odds, you can place the bet 15 times. If you win before you’ve made your 15th bet, then you take your winnings and walk away.

High Risk

Betting on totals can be very lucrative but it is very risky. If you’re thinking of betting on totals, then go for 10 or 11. They pay the lowest of all the totals bets, but they have the best odds of winning. Because three dice are rolled, these numbers have the highest chances of showing up. With 4 and 17, the player has to be very lucky, as there is only one possible combination that will result in these two totals. For 4, you would need two 1s and a 2 and for 17, you would need two 6s and one 5
