The Martingale System
This system is probably the most popular and most used strategy because it’s so simple to follow. All you have to do is double up your bet when you lose. This, in the short term, creates a high likelihood that you will win. This strategy is great to apply to Roulette because you can bet on spots on the table that have an almost 50/50 chance of winning (such as Red or Black). So, if you lose a bet you need to double the next one. If you lose again, you simply double your bet again until you win creating a good likelihood that you will be an overall winner at Roulette.
The Martingale System does have some flaws because the places on the table like Red or Black are not exactly a 50% chance of winning (because of the 0 and 00 (American Roulette) spaces on the table). So a Red or Black bet on a European table means you will win 18 times but lose 19 while on an American table your chances of winning are 18 versus losing 20.
The Martingale System can also be limiting depending on the casino you play in as many have a minimum and maximum bet thus preventing you from constantly doubling your bet. The most important thing to remember when playing this strategy is that, even if the ball has landed on black for the last 6 spins, the likelihood of the next ball landing on black is the same as it was when you started playing. Below you will find three variations of the Martingale Strategy.
The Grand Martingale – Keep doubling your bet when you lose but also add one additional bet so that you aim to win at least one bet every round.
The Anti Martingale – Play big to win big with this strategy by only doubling your bet when you win. This keeps your losses down if you are in a losing rut.
The Gland Martingale – For players who are in the game for the long haul – wait until 5 consecutive even money results come up before betting the Martingale system on the opposite result.
The Labouchere System
This system is great because it lets you keep track of your betting by allowing you to make the decisions on how much you want to win and how much you want to risk.
With this strategy you need to choose a sequence of numbers that total the amount you are willing to bet. For example:
If you decide you want to bet 10 units your goal will be to win 15. So let’s say you choose the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (which totals 15, the goal amount you want to win). Next, you’ll take the first and last numbers and add them together (1+5=6), so you bet 7. If you lose that bet you add a 7 to the end of your sequence (making it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7). This will make your next bet 8 (because by following the same sequence of adding the first and last number you get 1+7=8). However, if you win you would cross out the first and last numbers (making your sequence 2, 3, 4) and then you would bet the sum of the next first and last number (2+4=6).
In the simplest terms, every time you win you need to cancel out two numbers. If you lose, you add only one number that is a higher number resulting in higher bets in the future rounds if you keep losing.
This system is nice because you can choose any system you want (e.g. 1, 1, 4, 5, 3, 1) and your goal is simply to cancel out all the numbers in order to win the total amount of the sequence (in this case 15 again).
Again, like any other Roulette strategy there are no guarantees. The best advice we can give is to start out with small bets.
The D’Alembert System
This system offers a 50/50 chance of success so it’s best to use on the even (or almost even) money bets like ‘odds or even’ or ‘red or black’. This system is based on the theory of ‘the equilibrium’ and is a negative progression system where you raise your bet when you lose and lower them when you win.
Using this system means you need to add a single unit every time you lose and decrease your bet by one unit every time you win.
Remember like any Roulette strategy there are no guarantees. You will most likely experience long winning streaks and long losing streaks on any given day. Just make sure you decide prior to beginning how much you are willing to gamble with before using this system.
The Fibonacci System
As the name explains, this system is based on the mathematic Fibonacci sequence of numbers. In this sequence every number is the sum of the preceding two numbers: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144,233,377,610,987.
Applying this sequence of numbers to Roulette means that you will be betting the sum of your previous two bets so make sure you start off with a small bet! This system is less likely to fail because you aren’t restricted by any table betting limits. Again, it’s always best to set a limit, in this case on your losses, to about six or seven.
For example, place your first bet and keep the sequence in mind. If you win, you’ll bet again but if you lose you’ll start the sequence by writing down 1, which will be your next bet. If you lose again, you’ll bet 2. Lose again and you bet 3, lose again and bet 5 and so on until you win a round. If you win you bet the sequence in reverse. Of course you don’t have to bet all the way to 987, instead you can choose to limit yourself to between 5 and 8 bets and then start the system all over again. This helps minimize losses.
Oscar’s Grind Betting System
This system is named after a successful gambler who held the record for consistent gambling profits. It’s easy to follow and has a proven success rate.
The aim of the Oscar Grind system is to bet a sequence until a one unit bet has been won. For example start by betting one unit. If you win the sequence just starts over again. If you lose your next bet should be the same size as the one you lost. If you win the next bet will be one higher than the previous – but only if it doesn’t let you win more than one unit over the total sequence.
This system actually starts to work for you when you are losing. For example if you’ve bet 1 unit and lost you’d be down 1 unit. Because you lost, your next bet would be of the same value – 1 unit. If you lose the next bet you’re down 2 units and therefore your third bet should still be 1 unit. If the third bet wins you would only be down 1 unit so the next bet would be 2 units because you increase your bet by 1 unit. If this next bet wins you will be up 1 unit which means it’s the end of the sequence and you can begin all over again!
